Old Town Promenades on Wednesdays

Guided walking tours in the old town Neristan at 7 pm on Wednesdays 3.6.-26.8.2026. Come and listen to stories about the olden times. Duration: approximately 1½ hours. Departure: The Tourist Office, Market Place.

Price: 10 €/ person (under 12 y free).

Old Town Promenades on Mondays

Guided walking tours in the old town Neristan at 1 pm on Mondays 6.-27.7.2026. Departure: The Tourist Office, Market Place. The tour ends at the Waffel Cafe, where we enjoy the afternoon coffee. Duration: approximately 1,5 hour.

Price: 15 €/ person (under 12 y free) including guide services and coffee.

Bus Tour in Kokkola downtown

Hear old and new stories from Kokkola. Free guided tours on Saturdays (dates to be announced in spring 2026):

  • Sat 27.6. at 11am
  • Sat 18.7. at 11am
  • Sat  8.8. at 11am
  • Sat 29.8. at 11am

Departure from bus stop at Market Place. Duration approximately 1.5 hours.

Price: Free. Other time and dates year-around or with other language with extra fee .

Maria´s Cemetery (Laajalahdentie 32)

Guided tours on Sundays 28.6., 12.7., 2.8. and 16.8. Departure from the Old Chapel at 5 pm. Duration approximately 1 hour. See the location.

Elisabeth´s Cemetery (Elisabetintie 42)

Guided tours on Sundays 14.6., 5.7. and 9.8. Departure from the gate on the Vaasantie side at 5 pm. Duration approximately 1 hour. See the location.

Katariina Cemetery

Guided tours on Sundays 7.6. and 26.7. When the plague ravaged the world, it also reached Kokkola! And what about the grave of Anders Chydenius? Where is it if there is no gravestone or cross to mark it? … Join our tour to learn more! Departure from the gate of Katariina Cemetery, Torikatu 43. Duration approximately 1 hour.

Kokkola Cavalcade (in Finnish)

On the streets of the Old Town, you might come face to face with none other than King Gustav II Adolf himself, or Councillor of Commerce and alderman Donner. A sailor’s widow wanders along Läntinen Kirkkokatu, looking as if she is waiting for someone. Could someone be watching her from a gossip mirror? And why do those porcelain dogs in the windows all face the street? Who else might you encounter? You’ll find out by joining the Kokkola Tourist Guides’ historical cavalcade. Duration approximately 1.5 hours.

Barkassi – An English paddle-box-boat (in Finnish)

The pride of Kokkola, the “Barkassi,” a landing craft captured from the British Royal Navy…
“And with three hundred ships, the English sailed along the coasts of Finland…” The British intended to destroy the thriving tar town’s harbour, ships and tar stores. But what happened next…? Come and see and hear the story of the 1854 Skirmish of Halkokari and Kokkola’s history as a successful tar trading, shipowning and international trading town. Might Councillor of Commerce Anders Donner himself be present? Duration 1 hour.

Ghost Tours

During the school autumn break (week 42), the traditional Ghost Tours will take place 12th, 14th and 16th October. Departure: Mannerheim Square at 6:00 PM.

Price: €10/adult, free for children under 12 years old.

A guided walking tour on the theme “The History of Business Life in Kokkola” on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Departure from in front of the city library at 09:00. Duration approx. 1 hour. Price €10/adult. Children under 12 years free of charge. Guide: Marjo Rahikka.

Evening Market on Wednesdays
